Last 20 January, Airbus Military inaugurated its new Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul Centre (MRO) at the San Pablo Norte factory in Seville.

With an investment of nearly 1 million euros, this unit has made a qualitative and quantitative leap in terms of the activities it carries out following the modernisation of its facilities, which were previously the site of the final assembly line for Airbus Military’s light and medium-sized airlifters, with an increase in its human and material resources. The staff of the MRO has increased by 33%, with some 50 employees providing services in this area now.

The extension of the area dedicated to this activity in the Seville plant will also enable an increase in the number of aircraft which may be worked upon at the same time, progressing from four aircraft up to six. The MRO Centre currently services between 40 and 50 aircraft per year. The MRO Centre at San Pablo offers three services to its customers; the maintenance programme established in the aircraft manual; operation, consisting of the provision of flight crews; and fleet engineering, responsible for efficiently managing maintenance times.

The new facilities will be equipped to carry out the future schedules works for the A400M and the new A330 MRTT tanker aircraft, in which it hopes to have a major involvement.
