Last 25 May the Head of Flight Tests and Integration Tests and Flight Operations at Airbus, Fernando Alonso, inaugurated a series of conferences, "The Take-off of the A400M" organised by the EADS Chair of Aerospace Studies of the University of Seville, which marks this historic flight of the A400M in the context of 100 years of the history of aviation in Seville.

The inaugural paper was presented before an audience of 300 in the auditorium of the Higher School of Engineering (ETSI), during which Alonso offered a highly educational presentation for the young students of the school, the source of the future workers of Seville and Andalusia’s aeronautical industry. During his presentation, Alonso discussed the flight campaign for the A400M and the tests carried out to date, as well as revealing some of the tests to be conducted in the coming months with the third and fourth aircraft, which will join the campaign in summer and at the end of the year respectively. The head of Airbus highlighted that the first two aircraft have already made 50 flights with a total of 180 flight hours.

The inauguration of this series of conferences was also attended by the Director of the IDEA Agency, Antonio Valverde; the Director of the EADS Chair of Aerospace Studies, Federico Paris; the Director of the ETSI, Emilio Freire; and the head of Production Engineering and Industrial Development at Airbus Military, Jesús Espinosa. The next conferences will take place after this summer and will include the presentations “The A400M Production Process” by Rafael nogueras, head of the FAL for the A400M and the Flight Test Centre in Seville, and "The Design of the A400M" by Andrés Biarge Zapatero, Head of Aeronautical Architecture and Integration of the Engineering and Technology Department at Airbus Military.
