Last December, the Chairman of the Foundation for a Culture of Peace and former Director-General of UNESCO, Federico Mayor Zaragoza, presented the closing ceremony of the Centenary of Aviation in Seville.
This initiative involved numerous activities over the course of the year which recognised the city’s rich history in the field of aeronautics and aviation. Prior to this, from 13 to 28 October a series of conferences were held with the theme “From the Bleriot to the A400M”. Held in the Admiral’s Hall of the Reales Alcázares in Seville, they included papers by the Chairman of the Hélice Foundation, Juan Pedro Vela; the Head of Flight Testing for the A400M, Fernando Alonso; the Dean of the Association of Technical Aeronautical Engineers of Spain, Miguel A. González Pérez; and the writers and historians Antonio Guerrero and José Clemente, among others.
The programme for the Centenary concluded with a joint con- cert by the Municipal Symphonic Band and the ACAR Band of Tablada.
