The French Ministry of Defence and Airbus Military have signed an agreement for the purchase of eight new Cn235-300 aircraft for the French Air Force, which will be delivered between the end of 2011 and mid-2013, the company has announced.

This contract worth 225 million euros will cover the military transport needs of the French Air Force while it awaits the definitive incorporation of the A400M. The Cn-235 by Airbus Military is also manufactured in its facilities in Tablada, San Pablo (Seville) and El Puerto de Santa María (Cádiz).

The eight new models ordered will join another 19 which the French Air Force already has, and will be used for light transport missions, logistics and paratrooper training. Airbus Military will be responsible for maintenance of the new aircraft under the FISS (Full In-Service Support) Agreement.

The Chairman of the company, Domingo Ureña, declared that he was “very satisfied that the French Air Force has again chosen one of the members of our family of aircraft, which is further confirmation that we have the best range of products to meet the most varied strategic and tactical transport needs.”
